MY TOP 5 MOVIE SPACE VESSELS
All right, they’re really space ships but how often do you get to use the word vessel on a daily basis? Here’s my top 5 (in order in awesome):
5. THE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.
Why is the BSG so important? Only cause it holds the fate of humanity in it’s hands. I’m not going to spend a ton of time arguing this pick. Either you’ve watched BSG and totally agree or you haven’t and should go slam your head into a brick wall fifty or a thousand times!
4. THE NEBUCHADNEZZER.
Technically, not a space ship but I’m going to argue it could be retrofitted for space travel and you can’t argue because there’s no real proof about whether it’s right or wrong since it’s not a real thing! Look, if you’re going to fly around trying to avoid flying Octopi, what better way to do it than in a ship that has a name that’s hard to spell and can allow you to jump buildings and do Kung Fu in a made up reality? Hmmmmm….????
3. THE FIREFLY.
The poor man’s Millenium Falcon. What puts the Firefly so high on this list is it’s charm. There’s something great (in Sci-Fi) about a bucket of bolts that’ll always manage to hold together long enough to get you out of a pinch. Plus, it kind of looks like a robot chicken.
2. THE U.S.S. ENTERPRISE.
This ship wouldn’t have even made my list if J.J. Abrams had never been born. However, he was and suddenly a whole new world of Sci-Fi was made readily available for my enjoyment. Truthfully, while I was never a big Star Trek fan, this ship has always been bad-ass and it’s hard to deny it’s iconic status.
1. THE MILLENIUM FALCON.
Not much to argue here… I mean, how many other ships could make the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs? Honestly!

Any other #1 would have been a crime. Also dig the ship at the top. Is that Capt. Harlocke’s ship?

That’s from Battlestar Galactica… NAY! That is the BSG!!!

The ship in the header with the skull and crossbones is the BSG?

Oh, no! I thought you meant #5! 🙂

Awesome, awesome list! BSG and Firefly are two of my all time favourite TV shows, so I’m totally on board with those picks, and who the hell could disagree with the Falcon!
Other ones to consider – The Planet Express ship from Futurama, the Space Jockey from Alien and the giant ship at the beginning of Spaceballs

There’s a guy with a doofy name flying it, and I hate to give much of any love to the prequels, but I gotta say, there was something cool about Dooku’s little parachutey ship. Maybe not top 5, but deserves a mention.
I’m gonna go bang my head 227 times now.

Mad props for putting Serenity on the list! I was worried I was gonna have to come over to where ever it is you live and educate you. But, you’re a smart person, so all is well!
If I had to pick some, I would go with the NSEA Protector from GALAXY QUEST, because that movie kicks some major ass, The Discovery from 2001: A Space Odyssey, because if it wasn’t for that one we would have these, Slave I, because, BOBA FETT, and the Dropship from ALIENS, because the amount of guns on that thing intimidates the pigment out of my skin!

I wanted Slave I as well but it just missed! Galaxy Quest is another great one!!!

I approve of the totally unnecessary use of the word “vessel” in this post.
It’s hard to chose the anything other than the ship that did the Kessel run in 12 parsecs. It’s knowing shit like which ensure my status as single.
Personally, I always wanted a Slave I. Probably more because I wanted to be Boba Fett more than anyone else in the Star Wars universe.

Nobody brought up the fact that the Galactica was from TV and not film?
Oh, and don’t get a frackking late 1970’s Canadian limited release on me cuz then I’ll insist the picture gets changed to the one who’s ending didn’t Hot Carl in 1080P.

Glad the Millennium Falcon’s number one. (For obviouse Reasons. 🙂 )
I can’t believe that the Star Destroyer’s not there either.
