Tag Team back again. Check it, direct it, let’s begin. That’s right, folks, Heather and I are back yet again to tag team another Top 10… and we have every intention of making it our bitch. So, without further ado, we present our Top 10 Made-Up Movie Products.

HEATHER’S TOP 5:

SEX PANTHER from ANCHORMAN.

 

It’s made by Odeon, and made with bits of real panther, used by Brian Fantana to seduce Veronica Conrningstone, and it’s illegal in nine countries.  Some have even said it smells like Bigfoot’s dick.   Anchorman really exploited this lovely product in a way that exhausted the films humor until Steve Carell uttered, “I love lamp.”  I suggest you give Sex Panther a try, but only if you dare.

Groovers & Mobsters Present: 복수 삼부작 (The Vengeance Trilogy)

Welcome to a special edition of Groovers & Mobsters Present. The saying “revenge is a dish best served cold” has probably been around since the nineteenth century. A variation appeared in the classic comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets, it was popularised in the novel/film The Godfather and in Kill Bill Quentin Tarantino told us it is an old Klingon proverb. Park Chan-wook has his own ideas on vengeance and revenge:

What can I say? ANDY over there at the FANDANGO GROOVERS MOVIE BLOG must really like me cause he’s asked me back on to his ongoing genre study to discuss REVENGE FILMS. Today, we’ve narrowed it down even further to focus on Park Chan-Wook’s Revenge Trilogy which I recently picked as #4 of my Top 5 all time trilogies when I guest hosted the Matineecast (which you can hear by clicking here). This trilogy is not an ongoing story told over 3 films… rather it is 3 seperate tales of revenge as told by one visionary director. I have been tasked with talking about the first of the 3:

For those of you new to the site, here’s the idea behind this post:

On a boring Tuesday morning, of a week with no good new releases, I decided to rent a film I stumbled across that I had never even heard of. That film was Oldboy and it proceeded to blow my mind. Since then, I have lent the film to several of my friends and their experience mirrored mine.

This post was put together in an attempt to recreate that experience and hopefully present you with some films that may have flown under your radar. Films that are collecting dust in the “Favorites” aisle of your local video store… waiting to be checked out… and make you say, “How the hell did I miss this film?”

The REASONS MOVIES RULE series varies from our FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED TO SEE series a bit in that you’ve probably seen these films but don’t realize just how much they rule!

HAULING ASS OR DRAGGING FOOT: A ZOMBIE DISCUSSION

I don’t know about you but, personally, there’s 2 things in life I love: My family and Zombies!!!

I happen to be completely obsessed with the genre. With both the good submissions and the bad. Today, I want to address a conversation that has arisen, and grown more heated, in the Zombie loving community over the last 6 years… ever since Zach Snyder’s awesome remake of the much loved cult classic Dawn of the Dead. The question is this: Which Zombie is better… the Romero creeper? Or the Snyder sprinter? To help me out, Marc from Go, See, Talk ( a great blog, by the way) has come on to help me debate the issue.

Headlines tomorrow will read: FILM BLOGGERS UNITE TO PERFORM MUCH NEEDED PUBLIC SERVICE.

That’s right, boys and girls, I have a special treat for you this week. And I don’t mean the “razor in the apple” kind. It’s time once again to perform a much needed public service. That being to present you with some films that deserve to be seen but may have managed to fly under the radar of the general movie going audience. As you can imagine, this is no small undertaking. So, I’ve called in reinforcements…

Some of my favorite movie bloggers will be joining me this week to present some of their favorite gems that can be found at your local video store.
