TOP 10 MADE-UP MOVIE PRODUCTS

Posted in Cameos for Other Sites, Guest Bloggers with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 25, 2010 by Kaiderman

Tag Team back again. Check it, direct it, let’s begin. That’s right, folks, Heather and I are back yet again to tag team another Top 10… and we have every intention of making it our bitch. So, without further ado, we present our Top 10 Made-Up Movie Products.

HEATHER’S TOP 5:

SEX PANTHER from ANCHORMAN.

It’s made by Odeon, and made with bits of real panther, used by Brian Fantana to seduce Veronica Conrningstone, and it’s illegal in nine countries.  Some have even said it smells like Bigfoot’s dick.   Anchorman really exploited this lovely product in a way that exhausted the films humor until Steve Carell uttered, “I love lamp.”  I suggest you give Sex Panther a try, but only if you dare.

SOUL GLOW from COMING TO AMERICA.

Groovers & Mobsters Present: 복수 삼부작 (The Vengeance Trilogy)

Posted in Cameos for Other Sites, Groovers & Mobsters Present, Guest Bloggers, Ongoing Lists with tags , , , , , on July 24, 2010 by Kaiderman
Welcome to a special edition of Groovers & Mobsters Present. The saying “revenge is a dish best served cold” has probably been around since the nineteenth century. A variation appeared in the classic comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets, it was popularised in the novel/film The Godfather and in Kill Bill Quentin Tarantino told us it is an old Klingon proverb. Park Chan-wook has his own ideas on vengeance and revenge:

복수는 나의 것 – Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002)

By Kai from THE LIST:

What can I say? ANDY over there at the FANDANGO GROOVERS MOVIE BLOG must really like me cause he’s asked me back on to his ongoing genre study to discuss REVENGE FILMS. Today, we’ve narrowed it down even further to focus on Park Chan-Wook’s Revenge Trilogy which I recently picked as #4 of my Top 5 all time trilogies when I guest hosted the Matineecast (which you can hear by clicking here). This trilogy is not an ongoing story told over 3 films… rather it is 3 seperate tales of revenge as told by one visionary director. I have been tasked with talking about the first of the 3: Continue reading

SCENES THAT KICK ASS #7

Posted in Ongoing Lists, Scenes That Kick Ass with tags , on July 1, 2010 by Kaiderman

It’s time for a new entry into the pantheon of scenes that KICK ASS. The theory behind this post is this…

Some movies have a scene in them that is so awesome it can make the whole film worth watching. A scene that can make a bad film good and a great film better. A scene so good that it KICKS ASS… hence the title of the post. This week, we are featuring a clip from the movie:

FUN FACT: Harvey Weinstein actually wanted to walk out of the Sundance screening of CLERKS. His executives convinced him to stay seated until he heard the number “37”. Once he did, he was hooked and, as a result, Kevin Smith sold his first film. So here’s a glimpse of what it takes to make it into Hollywood. WARNING: Does contain some explicit sexual language… ENJOY!

That’s it for now, Snowbawlers.

FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED TO SEE 4

For those of you new to the site, here’s the idea behind this post:

On a boring Tuesday morning, of a week with no good new releases, I decided to rent a film I stumbled across that I had never even heard of. That film was Oldboy and it proceeded to blow my mind. Since then, I have lent the film to several of my friends and their experience mirrored mine.

This post was put together in an attempt to recreate that experience and hopefully present you with some films that may have flown under your radar. Films that are collecting dust in the “Favorites” aisle of your local video store… waiting to be checked out… and make you say, “How the hell did I miss this film?

To help me, as always, I’ve called some friends in. Fellow bloggers whose work I enjoy. Helping me today are:

Olive O’Brien from Movie News First

Marc from Go, See, Talk

Big Red (the other half) from Anomalous Material

Ripley from Four of Them

Andrew from Encore Entertainment

And, of course, me… your friendly neighborhood Kaiderman. Normally I’d go last but then I remembered it’s my blog and I CAN DO WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT! haha… so, I think I’ll kick this one off! Continue reading

Be warned… some may consider this clip a bit graphic. There are around 20 minutes of scenes that build up to this moment in the film but this is the payoff. Proof that Vincent D’Onofrio is one hell of an actor, I give you the greatest scene in a hell of a film by one of the greatest directors to tackle the medium. Enjoy!

That’s it for now, Numb-Nuts. Feel free to comment below. I never edit any of the comments. Remember, this was meant to be an interactive site, as much as I love the sound of my own voice.

THE REASONS MOVIES RULE: THE KARATE KID

Posted in Film, Movies, Ongoing Lists, Reasons Movies Rule with tags , , , , , , , , on June 19, 2010 by Kaiderman

It’s time for a new entry into our REASONS MOVIES RULE series. Wherein we give you 10 reasons a cult film, be it awesomely good or so bad it’s awesomely good, deserves to be given some respect. This week’s entry: THE KARATE KID.

The REASONS MOVIES RULE series varies from our FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED TO SEE series a bit in that you’ve probably seen these films but I just don’t think you realize how much they rule!

This film has been forced to the top of my list of films to include in this series ever since last week’s release of the horrible remake (starring Jackie Chan and Jayden Smith) which seems to retain none of the things that made the original so awesome.

So, I present to you, dear readers, 10 reasons THE KARATE KID rules. Here ya go: Continue reading
