MY LIFE IN MOVIES

Posted in MEME with tags on May 8, 2011 by Kaiderman

This post is the latest brain child of, friend of THE LIST, Andy Hart over at FANDANGO GROOVERS MOVIE BLOG. I must say that he has quite good ideas when he organizes these MEMEs and has not disappointed today. The premise is simple:

Pick your favorite movie from every year of your life. It seems somewhat a fitting time as well considering I just celebrated my 33rd birthday this week.

I don’t plan on getting into too much detail on these. I’m just gonna list them off. I should say however that this might be the toughest list I’ve ever done. Some years were gimmes but others were very difficult. I could easily see this list changing over the years. But, for now, it is what it is. So, without further, uh, dew… here is MY LIFE IN MOVIES:

1978 – DAWN OF THE DEAD.

1979 – MAD MAX.

1980 – THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

DESERT ISLAND CD

Posted in MEME with tags on March 18, 2011 by Kaiderman

My man, Castor Troy, came up with a great follow-up to last year’s Desert Island DVD’s post (wherein we picked what 7 DVD’s we’d take with us if we were stranded on a Desert Island). The idea is simple: You can burn one CD to bring with you to a deserted island. There’s only one stipulation. Since we’re movie bloggers, all songs must be featured on a movie soundtrack.

You’ll find mine below. I did not pick my favorite movie soundtrack songs of all time but rather put together an upbeat eclectic mix of songs that would help kill the time and make me forget the depression that comes from living alone on a deserted island. That being said, check it out:

1. WHERE IS MY MIND? – THE PIXIES (FIGHT CLUB)

2. HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN – THE ANIMALS (CASINO)

CINEMA CODE OF CONDUCT

Posted in Cameos for Other Sites, MEME with tags , , , on December 1, 2010 by Kaiderman

The “Cinema Code of Conduct” above was put together by Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo who are, as it’s been explained to me, essentially the Siskel and Ebert of the UK. It’s a great list that, friend of THE LIST, Winter Tyson (of Cinema Scream) thought it might be a bit incomplete. So, he’s enlisted a bunch of bloggers to tack on our own rule to go along with these. I’m going to cheat and add 2 though they are essentially the same. Here they are:

THE SPACE RULE.

Part 1: If the theater is sparse or even nearly empty, you must sit nowhere near me. In particular, you must not sit in front of me. While it may be bad manners, I have every intention of propping my feet up on the seat in front of me and you have no right to impede that. I also don’t want to hear you… or see you… or, worst of all, smell you!

Part 2 (for guys): A one seat gap must be maintained between 2 men seeing a film together. While this started as a homophobic thing, it no longer is. Men just really like having space and everyone wants the arm rest. If the theater is near capacity, this rule may need to be broken but you MUST maintain the gap as long as it is possible… or just bring a purse to throw in the empty seat and say your girlfriend is getting candy!

15 DIRECTORS MEME

Posted in Directors, MEME with tags , on October 11, 2010 by Kaiderman

It seems I have contracted a new strain of MEME. Special thanks to Marc at Go-See-Talk for that… I knew I should have used protection but he told me I had pretty eyes! Anyway, for this one, I am tasked with naming 15 directors who have helped shape the way I look at motion pictures. Here are my choices (in no particular order):

SIDENOTE: I could probably do a list of 100 so I just put down the first 15 that came to mind.

1. The Wachowski Brothers.

If you’re going to talk about filmmakers who changed the way you watch films, you have to mention the guys behind The Matrix. They literally changed the way action films were made by raising and setting the bar. Continue reading

FILMS THAT DEFINED US

Posted in Film, Films That Defined Us, MEME, Movies with tags , , , , on August 13, 2010 by Kaiderman

This is a new MEME put together by Marc (my Zombie loving friend) over at Go, See, Talk! Please, after reading this, stop by and check out some of the other people’s posts that will be popping up all over the blogosphere today. Here’s the basic idea…

We’re all picking a handful of films that had a profound impact on us in our impressionable years. We are also setting out to answer the following about each:

1. What dazzled us about the film at a young age?

2. How the film holds up?

3. Why you think it sets the standard for the genre of choice?

I’ll do my best. Here’s my 5: Continue reading

IT’S ALL ABOUT MEME

Posted in MEME with tags , , , , , , on June 18, 2010 by Kaiderman

My fellow Fanboy, Darren, from the m0vie blog (which is a great blog that I suggest you all check out), has hit me with a new MEME… MEME’s are like VD’s for bloggers… only they spread faster and don’t make it burn when you pee! I like to pretend I dislike getting them but the truth is I love them because the point is to talk about my favorite subject: ME… ME?

So here’s 7 facts about your friendly neighborhood Kaiderman. I’ve done one very similar before so I’ll try to give you some new stuff. Enjoy: Continue reading
