Looking for a cool Horror movie to see on Halloween night? Well, then you’ve come to the right place! How cool is it that the 6th (or 666) edition of FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW… fell on Halloween? I know, right? For those of you guys and gores new to the site, here’s the rundown on how this post works…

There are several movies out there that don’t necessarily get the same recognition or promotion as others. Films that at times can be quite good. Films that are currently collecting dust in the “Favorites” aisle at your local video store. We here at THE LIST have taken it upon ourselves to bring these films to the forefront and present you, the movie going public, a list of FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED TO SEE.

This time around, we are presenting you with the all horror edition to help with some spooky suggestions for your Halloween viewing pleasure. To help me out this time around, I’ve recruited the following:

Terri from GOREGIRL’S DUNGEON: The queen of gore serves up her 2nd contribution to these posts.
Andy from FANDANGO GROOVERS MOVIE BLOG: Also a repeat contributor with a unique spin for this outting.
Meredith Carter from M. CARTER AT THE MOVIES: Returns fresh off an October Horror Marathon.
Jason
from INVASION OF THE B-MOVIES: The King of all things “B”.
And to kick things off, your friendly neighborhood…

KAIDERMAN:

TRICK ‘r TREAT (2007).

If Halloween (the movie) is the Miracle on 34th Street of Halloween (the holiday) then Trick ‘r Treat is easily the Christmas Story of the fall and should be watched everytime October 31st roles around to get in the mood for the spookiest of holidays. Told very much in the vein of the old Creepshow films, this little flick tells 4 intertwining stories, set at Halloween, that encompasses everything that makes Halloween great: Werewolves, Vampires, Serial Killers, Urban Legends, Ghost Stories and creepy little monsters with potato sacks on their head. Also, a good watch for people who don’t handle Horror too well.

FEAST (2005).

You guys remember that whole Project Greenlight thing where Ben Affleck and Matt Damon had a show on Bravo to give unknowns a chance to write and direct their own projects while Bravo made a TV show chronicling the entire process? Don’t feel bad… not many do. However, their last outting produced a fun film to watch starring Balthazar Getty, Henry Rollins, Jason Mewes and a smoking hot Krista Allen as, quite simply, patrons locked in a bar fending off genetically mutated animal monsters. Very tongue-in-cheek and fun to watch… spawned a few sequels as well! Continue reading

It is once again time for us here at THE LIST to perform our public service. Not because we want to… because it’s court ordered. Damn my need to recreate Mel Gibson rants whenever I’m around law enforcement! But I digress…

To perform this much needed service, I have once again called in some fellow bloggers to help me. Here’s who we have on tap:

Fletch of Blog Cabins

Wynter Tyson of Cinema Scream

Heather Roddy of Movie Mobsters (in our first repeat performance… thank you)

Marshall of Marshall and the Movies

And, of course, ME… your friendly neighborhood Kaiderman.

Here’s the idea behind this post:

FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW I’M NEVER GOING TO SEE

Posted in Film, Films You Didn't Know You Need To See, Movies with tags , , on July 17, 2010 by Kaiderman

GOREGIRL over at GOREGIRL’S DUNGEON is going to be sooo disappointed in me!

So, as a movie blogger and general film fan, I take great pride in seeing every single film I can get my hands on. No matter how much I don’t want to. You listening Twilight? Damn you for hooking me on your franchise! I see the good, the really bad and the down right ugly. One of my favorite genres over the years has become Horror. I love me a good scare. However, there are 3 films out there I just can’t pull the trigger on. I thought I’d share them with you today.

I should say, before we begin, that this list used to feature 4 films and included Takashi Miike’s Audition (shown above). I had heard the audio for the ending of the film and found it quite disturbing. However, at a friend’s suggestion (talking to you Bruce Wayne), I watched the film and it wasn’t that bad. So maybe “NEVER” is too strong a word but for now I’m sticking with it because these films honestly scare the shit out of me!

Call me a pussy! Call me a coward! Call me what you you will… just don’t call me a liar because here are the 3 films that I’m honestly never going to see. In order: Continue reading

For those of you new to the site, here’s the idea behind this post:

On a boring Tuesday morning, of a week with no good new releases, I decided to rent a film I stumbled across that I had never even heard of. That film was Oldboy and it proceeded to blow my mind. Since then, I have lent the film to several of my friends and their experience mirrored mine.

This post was put together in an attempt to recreate that experience and hopefully present you with some films that may have flown under your radar. Films that are collecting dust in the “Favorites” aisle of your local video store… waiting to be checked out… and make you say, “How the hell did I miss this film?

To help me, as always, I’ve called some friends in. Fellow bloggers whose work I enjoy. Helping me today are:

Olive O’Brien from Movie News First

Marc from Go, See, Talk

Big Red (the other half) from Anomalous Material

Ripley from Four of Them

Andrew from Encore Entertainment

And, of course, me… your friendly neighborhood Kaiderman. Normally I’d go last but then I remembered it’s my blog and I CAN DO WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT! haha… so, I think I’ll kick this one off! Continue reading

Headlines tomorrow will read: FILM BLOGGERS UNITE TO PERFORM MUCH NEEDED PUBLIC SERVICE.

That’s right, boys and girls, I have a special treat for you this week. And I don’t mean the “razor in the apple” kind. It’s time once again to perform a much needed public service. That being to present you with some films that deserve to be seen but may have managed to fly under the radar of the general movie going audience. As you can imagine, this is no small undertaking. So, I’ve called in reinforcements…

Some of my favorite movie bloggers will be joining me this week to present some of their favorite gems that can be found at your local video store. Among them: Ross Mcg & Ross McD of Ross v Ross, Aiden from Cut The Crap Movie Reviews, Paul from Paragraph Film Reviews, M. Carter from M. Carter @ the Movies, Castor Troy from Anomalous Material. I have included links to each of their sites at the end of their sections. You can also find them through my Blogroll on the right side of my Home Page. Please, take the time to check out their sites as they all have their own unique voices and are all a ton of fun.

We will each be presenting 3 Films for your consideration. Ross & Ross will be working together…  that’s just how they roll! Hopefully, the collective thousands of hours we’ve spent watching Movies, both good and bad, will provide some real treats for you.

So, now, I present you with this week’s list: MORE FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED TO SEE. Continue reading

5 FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEED TO SEE

Posted in Film, Films You Didn't Know You Need To See, Movies, Ongoing Lists with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on December 20, 2009 by Kaiderman

For those of you who come here for my usual wit and charm (sadly, I feel there are very few of you), I have to apologize as this week I am forced to put humor on hold to perform a public service (though I’m sure some will inevitably seep through). 🙂

You see, if there’s one thing I take pride in being, it’s a movie aficionado… or as my wife and friends call me: Film Geek. I follow the film industry very closely, as I hope to parlay this whole blogging thing into a career as a screenwriter someday. Hopefully, before the nails hit the coffin. I typically know about films before they even get the greenlight and I see everything I can, be it in theaters or on DVD. This week alone, thanks to the Hollywood Video Diamond Pass upgrade I was given, I’m on pace to see 21 movies. That’s if I make it to Avatar on Sunday… God, and my dear wife, willing. However, there are weeks when I’ve seen everything that’s out there to see and I am forced to wander up and down the “Favorites” aisle of my local video retailer, the place movies go to die, in the hopes of finding a gem… a diamond in the rough, if you will. Sadly, these are far and few between. However, every now and then, I stumble across something that slipped past my radar. Chances are, if I haven’t heard of it, the average movie going public hasn’t either. Thus, I perform this, my public service, and present you with this week’s list: 5 FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEED TO SEE. Continue reading
