IS IT JUST ME?

OK… you need to watch this! This guy (George Clarke) was watching the extras on Charlie Chaplin’s The Circus DVD. In the footage from the film’s premiere at Mann’s Chinese Theater is a shot of a woman, who is possibly a man, who appears to be talking on a cell phone. If you do the math, that’s not possible. He theorizes time travel. Regardless of what this is, even if it’s a hoax, I think the idea is so effing cool… is it just me?

Also, does anyone have the DVD so we can verify if the footage is real? OR… does anyone have any other theories?

  1. Seen this hit the net a couple weeks ago, and Brad over at Ropeofsilicon.com posted a picture of a hearing aid that was used during that time, and that pretty much summed it up for me. I haven’t even watched the video.

  2. Hmmm. Couple of points. Who would she (or he) be calling in 1928, and how, since there were no mobile networks? Wouldn’t the phone be completely redundant? I travel to Italy and can’t call anyone. How the hell would you travel to the twenties and make calls. That’s some great roaming network.

  3. Yeah…wonderful story but I think this has been proven to be a 1920s hearing aid.

…of course, if a time-traveller had the equipment to travel back in time they’d probably know how to get around the problem of network availability. Having said that, you wouldn’t think you’d need to physically hold a mobile device in the future…it would just be an ear device maybe…

  4. No guys it’s a cell phone. Stop being paranoid and take off those aluminum foil hat because it can’t be a hearing aid. Why would he be talking to his hearing aid?? As for who he is calling, he is probably making contacts with his home base through a space-time portal.

  5. Well, it’s comforting to know that those time-travelers of the future aren’t using their skills to make the world a better place, since it clearly still sucks. Nope, they’re using their advanced knowledge to dress up in drag and go see Charlie Chaplin. Nice one, guys.

    • What do you want them to do? Kill Hitler and change the future and erase Michael J. Fox from his wallet photos and then from his very existence!!???!!!
      Here’s my response:
Like Castor said, it’s not a hgearing aid. She’s talking to someone but maybe she’s nuts. Who knows? I think it’s a trip though and while I’m not convinced of Time Travel, I hardly discredit what I’m watching. It’s interesting. This whole thing is like the start of a really cool movie!!!
Also, if people can figure out time travel, I think we can get a communication device to communicate back and forth. Maybe it’s not a quote unquote cell phone but could be a transponder of some kind that looks like one….. hmmmmm????

      • I’m sceptical by nature so I can’t help but look for the more plausible explanations. I WANT it to be a time-travelling drag queen, because that would be cool, but I don’t think it is. It’s just some crazy old coot with an earache, chewing her gums. Or something. 🙂

      • I bet she just bought the hearing aid/ horn and was walking around going “wow this is awesome, I can hear things now” and not necessarily talking to anyone…unless she is crazy:)

  6. Ahaha a time-traveling drag queen. What is the world to become if that’s the case.

  7. This guys spends way to much time with special features. Still the whole issue got quite a buzz going. I’m still perplexed as to how the woman looks like a man and talks to him/herself…

But regardless, I saw this today and thought it might help shed a little light…or not:

of course!! after seeing this footage, i immediately go “time traveler”…yes, that’s the first explanaion i have…geez, and i thought you all were geeky…but that’s a little too much for me…haha, love it!!

  9. Ok, first of all anything incorporating the idea of time travel is cool regardless of it’s lunacy or possible legitimacy. This however, is a bit bloody wonky, but interesting nonetheless. Although the whole idea is perplexing if not insane.

  10. […] I get it.  For my part, I completely agree with Kai over at The List, where I first heard about […]
