This is a new ongoing post I’m introducing to the site this week wherein the post will act as an open letter to Hollywood executives offering suggestions on how to make movies and the movie going experience better. This week’s focus? 3-D!

So, what happens when an unstoppable force (that being people who complain about the onslaught of upcoming 3-D films) meets an unmovable object (that being the studios and their greed)? You come to a stalemate. Let’s face it, 3-D is here to stay. Instead of bitching about it constantly, I say we embrace the change. I think Casey Siemaszko and my good friend Billy Zane would agree with me there!

Look, I’m OK with venturing into this new world of 3-D but, if we’re going to do this (and pay more for it), I have some rules. Listen up Hollywood because here they are: Continue reading

For those of you new to the site, here’s the idea behind this post:

On a boring Tuesday morning, of a week with no good new releases, I decided to rent a film I stumbled across that I had never even heard of. That film was Oldboy and it proceeded to blow my mind. Since then, I have lent the film to several of my friends and their experience mirrored mine.

This post was put together in an attempt to recreate that experience and hopefully present you with some films that may have flown under your radar. Films that are collecting dust in the “Favorites” aisle of your local video store… waiting to be checked out… and make you say, “How the hell did I miss this film?

To help me, as always, I’ve called some friends in. Fellow bloggers whose work I enjoy. Helping me today are:

Olive O’Brien from Movie News First

Marc from Go, See, Talk

Big Red (the other half) from Anomalous Material

Ripley from Four of Them

Andrew from Encore Entertainment

And, of course, me… your friendly neighborhood Kaiderman. Normally I’d go last but then I remembered it’s my blog and I CAN DO WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT! haha… so, I think I’ll kick this one off! Continue reading

Let’s face it… Heath Ledger‘s passing a couple years back was truly tragic. It ranks right up there with my wife (Editor-in-Chief) having several drinks on a night out and then passing out right before happy fun time!

Seriously though, on the heels of giving one of the greatest performances in cinematic history, it truly is a shame. However, the franchise must go on. Which leaves Christopher Nolan and his creative team with the daunting task of how to proceed with the 3quel. After all, the Joker was supposed to play a huge role in the 3rd film as well. In my opinion, there’s 3 ways to handle the situation. I present them to you here: Continue reading

Posted in Ongoing Lists, Scenes That Kick Ass with tags , , , , , on June 22, 2010 by Kaiderman

It’s time for a new entry into the pantheon of scenes that KICK ASS. The theory behind this post is this…

Some movies have a scene in them that is so awesome it can make the whole film worth watching. A scene that can make a bad film good and a great film better. A scene so good that it KICKS ASS… hence the title of the post. This week, we are featuring a clip from the movie:

Be warned… some may consider this clip a bit graphic. There are around 20 minutes of scenes that build up to this moment in the film but this is the payoff. Proof that Vincent D’Onofrio is one hell of an actor, I give you the greatest scene in a hell of a film by one of the greatest directors to tackle the medium. Enjoy!

That’s it for now, Numb-Nuts. Feel free to comment below. I never edit any of the comments. Remember, this was meant to be an interactive site, as much as I love the sound of my own voice.

Posted in Film, Movies, Ongoing Lists, Reasons Movies Rule with tags , , , , , , , , on June 19, 2010 by Kaiderman

It’s time for a new entry into our REASONS MOVIES RULE series. Wherein we give you 10 reasons a cult film, be it awesomely good or so bad it’s awesomely good, deserves to be given some respect. This week’s entry: THE KARATE KID.

The REASONS MOVIES RULE series varies from our FILMS YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED TO SEE series a bit in that you’ve probably seen these films but I just don’t think you realize how much they rule!

This film has been forced to the top of my list of films to include in this series ever since last week’s release of the horrible remake (starring Jackie Chan and Jayden Smith) which seems to retain none of the things that made the original so awesome.

So, I present to you, dear readers, 10 reasons THE KARATE KID rules. Here ya go: Continue reading

I like to pretend I dislike getting them but the truth is I love them because the point is to talk about my favorite subject: ME… ME?

So here’s 7 facts about your friendly neighborhood Kaiderman. I’ve done one very similar before so I’ll try to give you some new stuff. Enjoy: Continue reading

IMDB has the following listed as a short film but rumor has it that this might have been put together as a pitch to the studios for a reboot the Mortal Kombat franchise… I’m a fan of the first Mortal Kombat film but, I have to say, this looks pretty awesome. Check it out:

I don’t know about you guys but my favorite special feature on a DVD has always been the OUTTAKES or the GAG REEL. The problem is most DVD’s that feature them usually suck. However, every now and then they make me laugh until I cry.

These aren’t the greatest outtakes of all time. These just happen to be my favorite. I’m posting these because I’d like to hear what you think and would love to hear of some other great ones out there that I may have missed. Here’s my top 5 all time: Continue reading
